- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold, cubed unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss well and spread into the dish.
- In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle topping evenly over the apple mixture.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and apples are tender.
- Cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
