- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (50g) sugar
- 1 3/4 cups (420ml) buttermilk
- 1/2 cup (1 stick, 113g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons melted butter, for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Grease a 9-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Add the buttermilk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. It will be thin and that’s okay.
- Brush the top of the batter with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before cutting into squares and serving.
