Instructions
- Make the Brown Butter: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, swirling occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Make the Brookie Dough: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in half of the cooled brown butter (reserve the other half).

- Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Assemble the Brookies: Drop spoonfuls of the brookie dough and chocolate chip cookie dough randomly into the prepared pan, alternating between the two. Drizzle the remaining brown butter over the top.
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Let the brookies cool in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- Tip: Don’t overmix the dough to keep the brookies tender.
- Variation: Add chopped nuts or sea salt for extra flavor.
