Brownie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
Cookie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Make Brownie Layer: Combine melted butter, sugar, cocoa, and salt. Mix well.
- Stir in vanilla, then beat in eggs one at a time until combined.
- Gradually add flour and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour into pan and spread evenly.
- Make Cookie Layer: Cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in vanilla and egg until combined.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry to wet, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over brownie batter, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool completely before cutting.
