Description

Sweet and salty Churro Saltine Toffee is the easiest treat you’ll ever make! Ready in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients. Perfect for snacking or gifting!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 226g (1 cup) unsalted butter
  • 200g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) light corn syrup
  • 1g (1/4 teaspoon) salt
  • 5ml (1 teaspoon) vanilla extract
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
  • 5g (2 teaspoons) ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add granulated sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Continue to cook, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer, or until it turns a deep amber color (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers, spreading with a spatula if needed to cover all the crackers.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and evenly golden brown.
  7. While the toffee is baking, prepare the churro coating. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  8. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the churro coating evenly over the hot toffee.
  9. Let the toffee cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break the toffee into pieces.
  10. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • Tip: Use high-quality butter for the best flavor.
  • Variation: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee for an extra treat.
