Description
Sweet and salty Churro Saltine Toffee is the easiest treat you’ll ever make! Ready in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients. Perfect for snacking or gifting!
Ingredients
Scale
- 226g (1 cup) unsalted butter
- 200g (1 cup) granulated sugar
- 60ml (1/4 cup) light corn syrup
- 1g (1/4 teaspoon) salt
- 5ml (1 teaspoon) vanilla extract
- 40 saltine crackers
- 100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
- 5g (2 teaspoons) ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add granulated sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
- Continue to cook, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer, or until it turns a deep amber color (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers, spreading with a spatula if needed to cover all the crackers.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and evenly golden brown.
- While the toffee is baking, prepare the churro coating. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the churro coating evenly over the hot toffee.
- Let the toffee cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break the toffee into pieces.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
- Tip: Use high-quality butter for the best flavor.
