Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and vegetable oil until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the buttermilk.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the diced apples.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. To make the glaze, in a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
  13. Slice and serve. Enjoy!
