  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups (150g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (170g) chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Make the Brownie Layer: In a large bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add flour and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. Make the Cookie Layer: In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Beat in vanilla extract and egg until well combined.
  8. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  9. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
  10. Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoons over the brownie batter, covering as much of the surface as possible.
