  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 8 ounces (226g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
  • 1 (21 ounce) (595g) can strawberry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the white cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer until well combined.
  3. Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan.
  4. In a separate large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  5. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract and milk until well combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter, spreading it somewhat evenly.
  7. Spoon the strawberry pie filling over the cream cheese layer, also spreading evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let the cake cool completely before cutting and serving.
