Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • Sliced green onions, sesame seeds, sriracha sauce, kimchi, fried egg (optional toppings)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
  3. Add the water and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  4. While the beef is simmering, cook the rice according to package directions. If you already have cooked rice, fluff it with a fork.
  5. Divide the cooked rice evenly between bowls. Top with the Korean ground beef mixture.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, sriracha sauce, kimchi, and a fried egg, if desired.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!
