  • 1 pound egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and toss with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  3. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
  4. Pour the sauce over the beef and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly.
  6. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the beef and sauce. Toss to coat the noodles evenly.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
