One-Pan Garlic Butter Chicken and Green Beans

Description

Ingredients

1.5 lbs (680g) chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 lb (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed
3 tbsp (42g) butter, divided
1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 cup (60ml) chicken broth (or water)
Salt and pepper to taste
Lemon wedges for serving


Instructions

  • Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and onion powder, making sure each piece is evenly coated.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat until the butter is melted and shimmering.
  • Add the seasoned chicken to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 4–5 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, the minced garlic, and the trimmed green beans. Sauté for 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the green beans begin to brighten.
  • Pour in the chicken broth (or water), then cover the skillet and allow the green beans to steam for 2 minutes.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss everything together to coat the chicken and green beans in the garlic butter sauce.
  • Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

Blanch the green beans first if you prefer them very tender.
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top just before eating to cut the richness and add a bright finish.
Avoid crowding the pan when cooking chicken to ensure proper browning.
If the sauce is too thin, simmer uncovered for an additional minute or two to reduce.
