Description
A quick, savory, and satisfying low-carb meal featuring lean turkey sausage and tender, caramelized cabbage, all made in a single pan in under thirty minutes. This dish is packed with flavor and perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
1 lb (450g) turkey sausage, sliced into rounds
1 small head (approx. 500g) green cabbage, chopped
1 medium (approx. 150g) onion, sliced
2 cloves (approx. 10g) garlic, minced
2 tbsp (30ml) olive oil
1 tbsp (15g) butter
1 tsp (5g) paprika
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add turkey sausage rounds and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes; remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.
Add butter, chopped cabbage, sliced onions, and minced garlic to the same skillet. Sauté, stirring frequently, for 10-12 minutes until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized, and the onions are translucent.
Return the browned sausage to the pan. Toss everything with paprika, salt, and pepper.
Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring to heat through and allow the flavors to meld, before serving hot.
Notes
Slice the cabbage thinly for faster cooking and a more delicate texture.
For extra brightness, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end.
If your skillet is too crowded, cook the sausage or vegetables in batches to ensure proper browning.
