  • 1/2 cup (100g) powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to butter mixture. Mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
  6. Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl.
  7. Scoop dough into 1-inch balls, roll in powdered sugar to coat generously.
  8. Place cookies 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and cookies have cracked tops.
  10. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
