- 1/2 cup (100g) powdered sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to butter mixture. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
- Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl.
- Scoop dough into 1-inch balls, roll in powdered sugar to coat generously.
- Place cookies 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and cookies have cracked tops.
- Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
