Description
Experience the ultimate comfort with this rich, creamy Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate. Made with real chocolate and a blend of milks, it’s perfect for effortlessly serving a crowd or enjoying a cozy night in.
Ingredients
1 (12-ounce / 354ml) can evaporated milk
6 cups (1.4 liters) whole milk
1 ½ cups (360ml) heavy cream
1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
¾ cup (60g) unsweetened cocoa powder
8 ounces (226g) semi-sweet chocolate baking bar, chopped
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and ½ cup of the heavy cream until smooth and free of lumps.
Pour the cocoa mixture into a 6-quart slow cooker. Add the sugar, whole milk, evaporated milk, and the remaining heavy cream. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients.
Cook on low for 3 hours, stirring every 20 minutes, until the chopped chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and heated through.
Serve immediately, piping hot. Note that the hot chocolate will thicken as it cools. If it becomes too thick for your preference, stir in a little more milk to reach the desired consistency.
Notes
For an extra decadent treat, garnish with marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, crushed candy canes, cinnamon, nutmeg, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Use a high-quality semi-sweet chocolate baking bar for the best flavor and smoothest texture.
Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the slow cooker.
