Description

These classic soft oatmeal raisin cookies are wonderfully chewy, perfectly spiced with cinnamon, and packed with plump, sweet raisins. An easy recipe for a comforting, wholesome treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (200g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) salt
  • 3 cups (240g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup (150g) raisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in oats and raisins until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers are set.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • Tips for Success: Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for a smooth dough. Avoid overmixing the dough to keep cookies tender. Don’t overbake; pull cookies when edges are golden for maximum softness.
  • Variations: Add chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or dried cranberries. For a gluten-free option, use a 1:1 GF flour blend.
  • Storage: Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
