Description
A deconstructed version of the classic comfort food that’s ready in half the time! This one-pan Unstuffed Cabbage Roll Skillet delivers all the savory, hearty flavors you love with minimal effort.
Ingredients
1 lb (450g) lean ground beef
1 small head cabbage (approx. 900g), chopped
1 onion (approx. 150g), diced
2 cloves garlic (approx. 10g), minced
1 can (15 oz / 425g) tomato sauce
1 can (14.5 oz / 411g) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 cup (185g) cooked white or brown rice
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Brown the ground beef and onion in a large deep skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up the beef. Drain any excess fat.
Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, stirring constantly.
Stir in the chopped cabbage, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (undrained), paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the cabbage.
Cover the skillet and simmer for 15-20 minutes over medium-low heat, or until the cabbage is tender.
Stir in the cooked rice and heat through for 2-3 minutes, ensuring it’s well combined and warm.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
Use leftover rice to make this meal come together even faster.
Top with a little mozzarella cheese at the end for a gooey finish, melting it briefly under a lid.
Adjust salt and pepper to your taste after simmering.
