- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for greasing
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let stand for 5-10 minutes, until foamy.
- Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook on low speed for 5-7 minutes.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with olive oil.
- Gently punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a ball and place it into a prepared muffin tin.
- In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, and chopped rosemary.
- Brush the garlic rosemary mixture generously over the tops of the muffins.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
