Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Equipment

  • Small bowl
  • Large skillet or wok
  • Whisk

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, and minced ginger to create the sauce.
  2. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a splash of cooking oil, then add the shrimp. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque, then remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets along with 2 tablespoons of water. Cover with a lid and steam for 3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and pour the sauce over the ingredients. Toss everything together for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and evenly coats the shrimp and broccoli. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a complete meal, serve over brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice.
